Would this script or a self-made script with the required functions from Sofia Script also work in Intune/Autopilot? Would I have to run it in Intune using the logged on credentials (user context) or not?

I check in the script if the logged-in user has admin rights. regarding your question, the current Sophia Script needs to be run under local user account. If you be able to re-write the code to make it work in Intune, that will be great.
