Feedback on spans with attribute lists

Hello,
I am looking for feedback on the extension markdown-span-attr I developed: it enables arbitrary <span> elements with attribute lists using the syntax [content]{: attr-list}.
If anyone had suggestions on additional test cases, comments on the regex pattern, or thoughts on why it shouldn't be made, I would be very grateful.
