Escape characters

I just found out the hard way that characters in string literals are escaped with '' I would really like to see this documented somewhere since it will now cause a big headache in our project (we pass string literals into functions that can contain ''). And more importantly I would like to see a config option to disable escaping of characters. Thanks.

Hi,
I am not sure if I fully understand what you mean.
Looking at the string literal parsing code, I see that characters are escaped with a backslash ().
The string delimeters are documented here, where it is also described how to configure the delimeters to use additionally single quotes.
And what do you mean by we pass string literals into functions that can contain ''? When passing strings as variable values, there will be no escaping.

Yes, looking at the code I obviously see what it is doing, I was talking about documentation. You say string delimiters are documented "here" but link to code (?).
And still the option to turn this off would be nice, right now we are just prepending every backslash with another backslash to mitigate the escaping.

Thank you, now I understand what you mean.
But turning off string escaping would mean that you won't be able to have e.g. a quote in the string, because you can't escape it.
