Was the option to hide the news tab removed?

I think 2.9.2's release notes do not mention it but the option to hide the news tab when everything is read is gone now.
I liked that behavior. Can you bring it back?

Yes, this functionality was removed. It was buggy: sometimes the tab would be deleted, but an empty space remained in its place. Moreover, with SwipeView, even after the tab was removed, you could still swipe to the 'News' page.
In short, I decided not to overcomplicate things and to avoid introducing even more bugs.
