MyST Enhancement Proposal: Improving Cross References

Hi ExecutableBooks community,

Last month we announced that we were bringing MyST Markdown into JavaScript and Jupyter (with mystjs and jupyterlab-myst):

As part of the process we are investing in our governance and process to change MyST syntax to ensure this is a thoughtful, inclusive and predictable process. There is a bit more about our MyST Enhancement Proposals process documented here:

Over the last several months the @executablebooks/core-team has been working on our first MEP, which is on improving cross-references with Markdown links. If you would like to read more about the MEP, or comment on it you can see the review process here:

If accepted these changes will eventually be incorporated into the myst-spec and exposed in JupyterBook, mystjs, and myst-parser.
