Compile Book to PDF with typical LaTeX fonts/looks

I am writing my MSc thesis with Jupyter Books and I am very proud about it (*). It's gorgeous and simple. Two things:

1. Since it's an academic publication, how can I output it with the typical LaTeX appearances - font and such?
2. How to I globally set code cells not to show? So that I can manually edit the ones I want to be seen

Aside from this, the experience is quite smooth. I really appreciate the command line messages, they are quite informative.

(*) Actually, this weekend has been a hell because the book did not compile. All I received was this error message:

File ".../python3.9/site-packages/sphinx_external_toc/events.py", line 294, in insert_toctrees
    doctree.children[-1].extend(node_list)
IndexError: list index out of range

This was not really informative, but the I realised it was because root file was empty. How do I suggest a fix for this?
