Heating your home with solar power

The Idea

Place electric heaters, connect them to smart sockets, make them act as chargers and save on gas ( because that's what we installed LAST YEAR in my home)

Scenario

I've placed 3 fan heaters in my home connected to a tp link p100 smart sockets.
Then i hooked them up to my evcc system and after only one sunny day, my home was at 24-25°C, because the heaters ran around 6 hours.

Problems, changes to the system

• I think i will change the fan heaters with oil radiators because of safety and the noise.
• Tapo Sockets can just start throw timeouts, if evcc reconnects to often (be re-/unplugging the sockets too often), sounds like some throttleing on TP Link servers to prevent DDoS ?
• I wanted to add more heaters, but i realized it is enough heating power. i was sweating in my t-shirt after that day.
• I cant recommend Vestel Wallbox Chargers, because they loose their modbus connection here and there and just hard restarts re-enables them.

Tips

• Fritzbox > Home network > Network: There you can set static ips to devices, so their ip doenst change after every reconnect.
• Put labels on the sockets otherwise you switch them up

Please do not waste electric energy using simple fan, oil or other heaters based on inefficient resistors.
When using electric power please use heatpump technology only and feed the remaining surplus power to the public grid.

Well, im not able to use a heatpump. Even if it's inefficient, it's cheaper then using gas.

Feeding the surplus into the public grid in germany is a joke, im getting 0,06 €/kWh and buying it back for 0,35€/kWh.

I prefer to be self-sufficient, inefficient, cheaper and warm, rather then freezing, handing out free energy and paying 1600€ in gas bill per year (which was calculated for me).

Nice idea for transition period, I do the same thing with two AC systems (heatpumps).
Sunny days are easy, especially in October, but what do we do on days with (almost) 0 solar generated power in November, December, January?

Well, last year, my system got 150 kwh in november, 221kwh in december. One sunny day is enough for 2-3 days of warmth.
That's why i have 3x 1kwh heaters, even on low production days, 1kwh is basically always possible.

Understood the idea, as mentioned, I try to do the same thing (keep gas heating switched off as long as possible, use AC / wood fireplace for heating).
But still, 150 kWh in November are 5 kWh / day. I would consider ourselves to be energy efficient, but without the car we still need 10-15 kWh per day. That makes 10 out of the grid, without any heating.
And taking power from the grid to power heating fans doesn’t make any sense, ecologically and economically…

yeah, that's true. I wont heat with grid power.

Apart from the problem that there is not enough self production to do any electrical heating during winter it is still a waste of energy to use any resistor based heating.
You can produce ~ 4 times the heat power by using a heat pump system from the same electric energy than by using any resistor based heater.
So even if there is enough surplus to do any heating with a heat pump at the same time you can sell 3/4 of energy to the grid community.

So please do not waste energy using any resistor based heaters. Thank you!

True, i know how the heatpump works and i would love to install one but i cant.

Fun fact: Resistor based heaters on solar power are more efficient than a gas heater system, because they nearly got the 98% efficiency while modern gas heater systems can reach 90%+ ( extraction + transport not included ).
IMO it's not wasting energy.

If i can transition parts of my heating needs from gas to solar power, i can safe up to 1000€. Which will then constribute to my ROI of the system.

Ich habe auch einen Heizlüfter mit einer Tapo in evcc integriert.
Zusätzlich lasse ich per Script die Raumtemperatur über eine FritzDect auslesen und gebe diese als SoC in evcc aus (mit dem poll-Parameter beim Loadpoint wird das Script laufend ausgeführt). So kann ich auch direkt eine Ziel-Raumtemperatur definieren, damit sich die Tapo z.B. bei 23 Grad abschaltet.

Kann ich das auch per MQTT machen habe mir eine Heizsteuerung mit ESP D1 und Relais und Tempsensor gebaut.
Der D1 sendet an den MQTT Broker den Soll und ist wert.

So weit reicht mein Laienwissen nicht, aber wenn ich MQTT in der Doku richtig sehe, sollte es damit auch möglich sein.

I have a heatpump, but I can't control it remotely (yet). But what does interests me is to see how much PV power is used for the heatpump.
I installed a separate kWh meter in front of my heatpump, so I can monitor the used power, my grid power and inverter. Would it be possible set this up in EVCC as a monitor only with controls to switch it on/off?

EDIT: Nvm, it found the aux meter section in the documention. It seems exactly what I was looking for. I will play around with this :-)
