1). Scaffold a new React app

npx create-react-app foo

2. install ethers

npm i ethers

Then in my App.js:

import { ethers } from 'ethers';

3. Try to build:

npm run build

SEE THE ERRORS OMG IT'S HORRIBLE:

Failed to compile.

This sounds like a problem with your bundler configuration; there are definitely people who use React with ethers and it is very common for people to use React Native.

I don't use react myself, but you should be able to find bundler examples in their docs?

Maybe someone else in the community that has used this can help out?

In my opinion , the issue comes from the not good compatibility between React and ethers npm version.
Or , as @ricmoo said above , it may comes from builder configuration.
