PolkaDot (or other alternative) blockchain support

I wonder if it was considered before to support PolkaDot (or other alternative) blockchains?

Though ethers's primary goal has been to support Ethereum Mainnet and similar chains (which doesn't add much extra weight to library). AFAI'm looking at PolkaDot's rpc spec, it's is very similar to ethereum (so I think ethers might already be working out of the box at least those functionalities). Is there something specific that you're looking for?

I haven’t looked into Polkadot at all, but like @zemse said, if the JSON-RPC is compatible, it should just work. Otherwise, any feedback on what would be necessary is welcome. :)
