Relative Links and Team Site

Hi - I'm trying to publish to a Team site but it appears that all relative links in my docs are resolving to the base SharePoint organization url <tenant.sharepoint.com> vs. <tenant.sharepoint.com/teams/teamname> such that I would have to explicitly define all links or do some type of substitution prior to publishing. Is this expected behavior or is there a work-around you could suggest?

It also appears that any referenced images are handled similarly. Thank you for any suggestions.
