Not getting error logs when my code crashes

I've seen this both with and without logging set up: I only get the INFO notices about a page crawled. But if my spider code has (say) a FunctionClauseError error, I get no notice about it at all.

So I need to somehow code a trap for errors like this and log them manually?

I've looked through the config and don't see anything applicable. Thanks!
