Description:
Currently, when clicking on an attached file (e.g., .docx, .pdf, .jpg), Element forces the user to download it first, instead of offering an option to open it directly in the associated application (e.g., MS Word, Adobe Reader, system image viewer). This creates unnecessary steps and worsens the UX compared to messengers like Telegram, Discord, or even email clients.
Expected behavior:
Single-clicking a file should open it in the default system app.
Alternatively, add a right-click option "Open with…" (similar to file managers).
Keep "Save as…" as a secondary option (e.g., via right-click or a button).
Why is this important?
Many files (e.g., documents, images) are viewed once and don’t need to be saved.
Forcing downloads feels outdated and slows down workflows (especially in corporate/school use).
