Electron build failing

Based on sh: 1: electron-rebuild: Permission denied, I would assume that npm messed something up while downloading the dependencies. Can you try removing the node_modules (git clean -xfd usually helps with that) and running npm i again? That should usually clean those up.

It is the second time that someone is asking me to remove node_modules and reinstall everything again. What could be the source of the necessity to always remove the node_modules folder?

From where I am right now I have limited bandwidth with my internet. I can't redo that all the time otherwise my internet will go broke 😄

I will try that now but you just asked me to waste almost 1GB of my bandwidth 😕

Unfortunately, most package managers for JS are quite messy, especially when dealing with added or even changed dependencies. The file structure in node_modules breaks fairly regularly for me in npm.

Alternatively, it might be enough to just use chmod on the respective files - but I wouldn't know, I'm a Windows user.

I added the dependency in dev-packages/application-manager is there another place I need to add that dependency for electron?

I would recommend you to place the dependency in @theia/core aside from that, the issue is actually unrelated to that. You cannot use import as a non-top level statement in JS.

Yeah I added this import inside of the HTML template which clearly doesn't show any kind of code highlighting so that I can identify the right place to put that.

backend-generator.ts
