How to set up an own server

Dear ladies and gentleman,

according to the information I found on your websites it is possible to configure what server should be used for a session. So it should be possible to set up an own server for it. According to https://www.typefox.io/blog/open-collaboration-tools-announcement/, section "The Open Collaboration Protocol" it looks like some program should be installed in order to make it work, but I cannot find anywhere a download of the server program.

Can you help me with that?

Yes, the server is also published on npm: https://www.npmjs.com/package/open-collaboration-server

And there's a Dockerfile in the project root to create a container image.

The server requires a bunch of environment variables for configuration, see its README.

Sorry to bother, I'm having trouble setting up the server.

I created a Docker image following the instructions in the repo and added the environment variables. But still when I try to connect via IDE using the dedicated extension, I get an "Invalid login response" error.

For context: I'm using OCT_ACTIVATE_SIMPLE_LOGIN=true, and the container is running on a separate machine connected via LAN.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

@AleMWT Are you using the server from the current main? The protocol has changed since the last 0.2 release (0.3 will follow in the upcoming days) and therefore the VS Code extension (which is still running on 0.2) likely fails to perform the login.

You can use the server build from the commit d2ce847, which should work with the currently available version of the VS Code extension.
