We actually had something similar in mind recently: Agentic Users. I.e. "users" that are actually just some server app that are able to host and join sessions. One simple example might be something like a LLM refactoring agent that you can just ping to do some refactoring on the currently open file. |

A good use case for collaboration tools would be an enviroment that allows collaboration on a hosted project.
The use case is collaborative editing of documents like scientific papers, project proposals or anything written in latex, typst or markdown for example.
Examples of hosted collaborative editing are Overleaf.com, typst.app, hedgedoc. However, these are limited to exactly one language and the use of the online editor.
With open collaboration tools everybody could use their favorite editor to connect to a session serving the files from a dedicated server.
In contrast to overleaf.com and typst.app this server could be self hosted (for free) allowing companies to protect their internal documents.
