Related to: ec-europa/ecl-webcomponents#83

We’d like to highlight that the KoliBri component library is now fully compatible with both official ECL themes – EU and EC.
This opens up an opportunity to complement the existing ECL system with accessible, modular, and standards-based components, especially in areas where implementation is still ongoing or where lightweight alternatives are needed.

πŸ” What is KoliBri?

KoliBri is an open-source component library developed for the public sector. It is designed with:

  • βœ… WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility compliance
  • 🎨 Full support for ecl-theme-eu and ecl-theme-ec
  • 🧩 Web Standards (HTML/CSS/JS), framework-agnostic and interoperable
  • πŸ› οΈ Easily integrated into existing ECL-based projects or prototypes
  • πŸ“¦ Ideal for pilot projects, forms, and UI elements still missing in ECL

πŸ”„ Potential collaboration ideas

We would love to explore collaboration possibilities, such as:

  • Aligning component scopes and priorities
  • Providing interim components (e.g. accessible forms, complex UI controls)
  • Joint accessibility QA/testing strategies
  • Making KoliBri optionally available as a plugin/add-on for ECL projects

πŸ“š More information

πŸ“¬ We'd be happy to discuss this further.
Please let us know if there's interest in exchanging ideas or setting up a short call. We believe this can be mutually beneficial and support the broader goals of design consistency and accessibility across EU services.
