Hi,

I was trying to figure out how to perform the gaussian fits for the APM base data set and came across the paper by Bangert et al. (2014) "Analytical probabilistic proton dose calculation and range uncertainties" which describes the mechanism of the fit. Unfortunately, the link http://learning.eng.cam.ac.uk/carl/code/minimize/ on the function minimize that was quoted in the paper does not work anymore. Is there any other way to get access to this function?

Unfortunately I do not know which "minimize" code exactly this was. It could be the one on the Matlab file exchange: https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/24298-minimize
I have a few fitting pipelines for APM data, though - it is not always straightforward as the optimization problem is not convex. Maybe drop us an e-mail and I can see what I can send you.

Hi,
I have tried the approach using minimize and get these results on the matRad APM data for protons. Did you encounter a similar problem and have an idea how I can improve the fit for the frontal and distal part further? As the range of the beam differs by a few mm in water, the difference might be too much considering the different densities of other materials. Thank you in advance!
