Inclusion in main packer project?

Are there plans to try to get this included in the main packer project as an official builder? Are there any blockers or reasons not to do this?

If it's just a question of finding the time to shepherd it, I'd be happy to help out.

I would guess that packer will follow terraform in moving to a smaller core with an ecosystem of approved plugins that are easy to use - just reference them and then terraform init. Just a guess though, no affiliation to Hashicorp.

Also happy to help. I think #8 would be a first step - to get it building as a plugin rather than require modifying packer and building it in-tree.

We would need to also:

• port the docs to the hashicorp/packer/website format/directory.
• merge go.sum/go.mod into Packer's.
• add relevant folks to https://github.com/hashicorp/packer/blob/master/CODEOWNERS (for code review)
• relicense from GPL to MPL (@dradtke would you be OK with that? )
