Description
First of all I want to say that all of these feature requests I've been bringing up aren't because I don't like SupercellWX. It's probably the best archive tool I know of at the moment, and the placefile support makes it a useful tool even if you have apps like RadarScope. But I did have a few features that would be really neat to see...
-
Ability to disable placefiles and current warnings when in archive mode. I've noticed that this is not currently happening and it clutters up the archive view with unrelated data
-
I was wondering if possibly the solution for the lack of resolution as far as storm-relative velocity would be a GR2Analyst-style manually computed SRM, where you can set the storm motion and the program will compute storm relative velocity depending on what you set
-
A search box for cities (like Radar Omega or WeatherWise) would be cool
-
Storm reports- I know there's a placefile for this, but the icons aren't as visible as those in GR3 or RadarScope for example
-
Warning mouseover tooltips go out of the pane / window so you can't read the full text; this depends on where you hover the cursor on the warning box but it happens pretty frequently
-
Some sort of dealiasing for Level II data
-
A customizable color / icon for the multi-panel cursor marker
-
Placefiles appear to be scaled differently than GR3; not sure exactly how to explain this other than that the placefile contents (icons, etc.) are bigger relative to the map than with that same placefile loaded into GR3. This makes lightning and station plot icons a little annoying since they cover a lot of the radar data
-
And just a fun and outside the box thing- it would be kind of neat if there was some kind of WarnGen simulator that you could optionally turn on just to play around with. The reason I mention this is that AWIPS (and its accompanying WarnGen tool) is available for download but I'm pretty sure there isn't a public-accessible data feed for it?
Again, great work! Happy to see the changes that just rolled out and excited to see what's coming next.
