@omajid Out of curiosity, have you ever managed to get a mono-flavored build working on dotnet8 previews (i.e. with s390x or ppc64le). I'm experimenting with those platforms, but things aren't working. I get the following error with s390x:
dotnet/runtime#90292

And a hang with ppc64le / riscv64 when restoring.

I had Preview 6 building on all of aarch64, ppc64le, s390x and x86_64 (though there were some random build crashes): https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/g/dotnet-sig/dotnet-preview/build/6187832/

Preview 6 needed this build fix too: dotnet/runtime#88145

There's still a known error with a source-build with mono unable to build itself (#357), but that manifests as a Type load exception.

I have not tried with Preview 7.

I used a slightly tweaked version of https://github.com/ppc64le/build-scripts/tree/master/d/dotnet7 to bootstrap builds for ppc64le and s390x.

Dreadful, I still get The process cannot access the file ... because it is being used by another process error on ppc64le from time to time. Are those the cause of your random build crashes or some other thing?

Fortunately, it seems like dotnet on ppc64le and s390x is buildable! The roslyn bug only happens when building roslyn directly, presumably because source-build restores from local nupkg store, while directly building roslyn restores from the web. Anyways... the file access issue has been a problem forever on Alpine for mono.
