Support file collection triage and pre-ingest SIP preparation?

There's an important use-case around safely preparing items for ingest from a collection of files. The current DP Workbench is intended to support through bulk file extension lookups, but other features have already been suggested, and this all gets quite ambitious quite quickly:

• Add a browser-based format identification tool set? #8
• Add deeper ID, esp. codecs, to the browser-based scanner? #9
• popping open containers like disk images, possibly carving
• simple metadata standards for user-supplied information on formats, event logs, etc.

There's also a set of 'gotchas' that such a tool could help manage through contextual help. For example, the tool could pick up on the formats and say "here's some known subtleties that might catch you out!"

• identify multi-file 'format' folders that should be ZIPd
• Select 'yours/not' and suggest tools and usage, e.g. relevance of validation.
• disk image identification and advice

I think this may be rather too big for the current project, but perhaps we can lay some foundations.

Perhaps a very quick scan, then 'go use DROID/etc.' ?
