Why Beta?

I'm calling this Beta because we're opening it up to other users in a soft launch. But it could also easily be 2.5.0beta, or v3.0.0alpha or v2.5.0alpha. It all depends on how we want to swing it. Once we launch the actual production app we should revisit the versioning again.
