Misstrokes: there is #637

Dictionary

I noticed something in:

  • dict.json

Misstrokes

These look like misstrokes or could otherwise be better:

"THR-LGS": "there is",

These look like misstrokes because:

  • The stroke for "there's" is THR-S, so I think the stroke for "there is" should be very similar, like THR*S, but the current stroke has extra -LG keys, which don't translate very well into suffixes that are used for "is", like "THAS": "that is", "TH-S": "this is".
  • The stroke for "there has" is THR-Z as expected from similar strokes, like THAZ, HEZ, SHEZ, T-Z and other strokes ending with -Z whose translations end with " has".

Expected

I would expect the outline to be:

"THR*S": "there is",

I would expect to see that outline because:

  • It uses a suffix stroke.
  • It is consistent with the main.json dictionary from Plover 4.
  • The suffix stroke for " is" is written using -S, which is consistent with the strokes used for "that is" and "this is".

Even better

To make this even better, we could:

  • Remove the entry completely because it can already be stroked without its own entry.
  • For strokes whose outlines end with -S and their translations with "'s", add equivalent strokes with suffix stroke *S and the word " is" after the original word, like "T-S": "it's""T*S": "it is".
