unable to find ui folder at root directory

Hi all,
I was setting up haystack on my machine and was going through contribution guidelines for help with that. In this section titled Code format and style there is this command given to run Mypy python -m mypy haystack/ rest_api/ ui/ which failed because there was no 'ui' folder present. This command ran when I removed the 'ui' argument from the command. But this made me wonder if this directory existed before and if so what purpose it used to serve and why was it removed? Was it something like an UI interface to something related to this codebase or something else...

Hello @bishopmate!

You are right: the UI folder is no longer in the Haystack repository. (fixed in #5522)

The UI folder contained a Streamlit UI, from which one could take cues to create applications with Haystack.
Currently, you can find similar examples in:

• Explore the world Demo: streamlit-based NLP application. It's easy to change and extend and can be used to try out Haystack's capabilities.
• haystack-search-pipeline-streamlit: (empty) template for Haystack Search Application with Streamlit
