MariaDB as DocumentStore

Looking into implementing Haystack as a search feature on an already running platform. However we are running of a MariaDB database and with this block different organizations from viewing each others content. Therefore it would be nice to utilize this already existing access management. Do any of you have experience with or know if it is possible to use an already existing MariaDB database as the DocumentStore, or would it be necessary to setup different DocumentsStore and the config access in that one?

Hey @jozgu, I saw your question on discord and wanted to update the discussion here as well. Feel free to ask more questions here or on discord.
As a short answer: unfortunately, it’s not possible use the access management that MariaDB provides with Haystack as MariaDB doesn’t provide the access management for embeddings which is crucial to prevent data leakage in semantic search applications.
