The entity will plot a line, but not bar graph

I am a bit confused.

If I use this YAML I get the below

entities:
  - entity: sensor.lux_solar_output_daily
    filters:

hours_to_show: 24
refresh_interval: 10
title: Daily Solar Generation and Export

If I use this YAML I get nothing

    filters:

    statistic: state
    period: day
    type: bar
hours_to_show: 24
refresh_interval: 10
title: Daily Solar Generation and Export

What am I missing?

That entity is probably not being stored in the long term statistics db. Try the statistics card that comes from home assistant to find the available data

The Statistic card only had change available. I can use this in the Apex card. Do I have to stick with that?

Yes, not all sensor classes store all statistics types in the db
