i think this would pair well with a follow up article released at the same time on how to then automate this process once you've got your pattern set.

@b-per posted some proper python improvements to my shell script hacks for doing this that will be a huge hit, and should definitely get out into the community (i've been wanting to polish those up and publish them for over a year at this point). we can discuss here if we want to branch that off or do these together in an Ultimate Staging Guide.
