[REQUEST] Ability to set image sampling filter mode for pixel art

What is the user problem or growth opportunity you want to see solved?

Some sort of configuration option to disable linear filter on images. For pixel art this makes it look all blurry, which is not good. For example, QML does this with a boolean property called "smooth".

How do you know that this problem exists today? Why is this important?

I'm going for a pixel art theme and without the ability to use nearest neighbour sampling this isn't really possible.

Who will benefit from it?

Anyone who wants a pixel art background.

Do you have a good example image?
GDK has these interpolate options:

Nearest neighbour sampling is what you want (i.e. GDK_INTERP_NEAREST). I don't actually need this feature anymore though, and given nobody else has requested it until now, it might not be that useful.
