Some issues with Git LFS (in my experience)

Key point: ask yourself whether you

• If you use git lfs you can't make a github repo a "template"
• bandwidth limits are quite low and you have to buy a data pack ($5/month for 50Gb) e.g. on Life Itself found ourselves with 1Gb of assets and burning through even that 50GB if regularly editing the website
  • NB: this could be addressed with https://giftless.datopian.com/
• Moving repos across providers becomes a real PITA. e.g. if you are on gitlab then moving to github or vice versa becomes quite problematic because there is no tool to migrate the assets in LFS
