Agreed. However, plugin support is likely quite aways away. One problem is alot of the internal structure of the application is changing just as it matures, which makes writing plugins difficult if there's no stable API. The other problem is deciding how to create plugins. Since this is a cross-platform application, then having compiled plugins is probably not a good solution as it would make creating/deploying applications quite difficult. Having some sort of interpreted script (Lua, Python, etc) is probably the better solution.
Also agree. This is probably something that could be added easier. This is kind of platform dependent but luckily Qt handles alot of that. |

Dear Notepad Next Team,
First of all, thank you for creating such an excellent project. Notepad Next is a much-needed solution for macOS users who’ve long wished for a Notepad++-like experience. It truly captures the spirit and functionality of the original, and I appreciate all the effort that has gone into building it.
That said, I noticed that the macOS version currently lacks two major menus that are central to the Notepad++ experience: Plugins and Run.
These features are essential for many users:
Plugins offer powerful extensibility and customization.
The Run menu provides valuable workflow automation and quick execution of external commands.
Both of these are part of what makes Notepad++ a true Swiss Army knife for developers and power users.
I’d like to kindly ask if there are any plans or timelines for bringing these features to the macOS version of Notepad Next. Their inclusion would be a huge step forward and would help make this editor a complete cross-platform alternative to Notepad++.
Thank you again for your work on this fantastic project!
