Increase the width of the main content

I want to increase the width of the main content for "page" layout, i.e., leaving the left/right margin narrower. I have tried to add custom css to override the config of 'max-width' of "container-md" but this did not work. Anyone has ideas on solving this? Thanks!

I added a file "custom-styles.css" with the following content and it worked. Also change the config with site-css:

• "/assets/css/custom-styles.css"
