Read DMARC reports from local files without IMAP

Would it please be possible to have an option for processing xml files dropped into a folder?
because:
a) I'd like a more standalone/limited connection solution (i.e.: no need to connect an email account for it to work)
b) I have 100s of historic DMARC reports stored locally that I would like to process

It should be possible to just send one mail with multiple XML files attached. All of the reports should be picked up and processed separately. Does that help?

Currently I would really prefer to avoid different input modes with folders vs. IMAP because it makes the configuration code much more complicated, because suddenly all the IMAP settings need to become optional etc.

Its also one more code path and feature that needs to be maintained, tested etc.

I am not entirely against it, but I think this needs to be requested by more people before I would be willing to work on it. I am open for PRs that show this can be done without many changes and extra code!

I’m also interested in this for other reasons — I’d rather not have to add another user to my IMAP server or give the application an existing user’s credentials.

If I could just set it up to read directly from a Maildir, or to accept incoming mail on stdin, or read the XML files from a directory, that would be really handy. It lives on the mail server anyway.

That said, I understand your concerns about adding complexity. I just figured I’d register my interest.
