How to create a special keyword with suggestions that transforms into a link?

Quick question. I want to do a special symbol auto suggestion with editor.js just like what we have where in Github when you type "@". When you type "@" a select menu shows up for me to select the person I want to mention and making the word a special linkable word. How would I go about doing that?
