🐞the youtube home feed is blank on chromium browsers when the default is set to search

Concise Description

tested on Chrome and Brave by opening youtube.com/ in a private window where only ImprovedTube is installed
on the (Firefox based) Zen browser I don't have this problem

sometimes(!) I can spot the word: LIVE in the middle
I know the this is from the logo in the header
so I checked the general settings and saw that Search was the default for the yt home feed
changing it to normal or sth else works and the feed or watch later etc is shown

being logged in/out with google does not make a difference
in appearance the header setting is set to normal

happening on firefox as well so i guess this is not limited to chromium browser. looks like some youtube change is causing this feature to break.
