So, I had a weird issue that I finally took the time to sit down for and try and fix, and the solution shocked me.
When watching shorts, the video would always reload once, sometimes twice. This is something I had enabled in the past, but recently, I wanted to turn it off, so I changed all the settings I could find that could possibly do this. In normal videos it wasn't happening, but in shorts, it kept happening. Also videos were loading slower because of it, probably youtube throttling me for loading the video multiple times in quick succession.
At some point, I thought it may have been a conflict with a different extension, and I disabled that extension, but to no avail. That extension was to bring back the progress bar on shorts, something that this extension can now do also, and with the recent UI change, that extension was even more obsolete.
Anyway, with that extension disabled, this extension enabled, shorts were still restarting at least once, sometimes twice.
Today, to test things out, I disabled this extension, refreshed the page the short was on, and it played as it should, no reloads.
I checked another short I never seen, just to be absolutely sure, and it also played as it should. So now I confirmed, it was somewhere in this extension, and I only needed to find it.
I enabled the extension again, played another short.... and to my surprise, the problem was now gone.
The solution really only was to just disable the extension, perform the action once, and enable the extension. Nothing else had worked.
Has anyone else had something similar to this? Curious if this is a weird thing that only happened to me, or that someone can explain why it happened and why it worked.
I mean, it clearly kept a setting enabled after I disabled it in the extension, but only loading youtube without the extension enabled somehow fixed it.
