TweetDuck is a highly customizable desktop client for the TweetDeck web interface. This is a detailed list of all available features in the latest version.

General

  • Settings and Plugins can be opened by clicking the Settings button in TweetDeck, or by using the global context menu items described below
  • Spell check with an English dictionary can be enabled in the Settings
  • Muting notifications will pause both desktop and sound notifications (the option persists across restarts)
  • If the old TweetDeck is installed when running TweetDuck for the first time, you have an option to Migrate your account, and optionally also completely Purge the old installation (removed in 1.5.1)

Context Menu

  • Right-click anywhere in the browser window (or click Settings -> TweetDuck on the website) to display a global context menu
    • The menu gives you access to the Settings, Plugins, and About TweetDuck dialogs, as well as an option to Reload browser and toggle Mute notifications
  • Right-click on a tweet to display the Open tweet in browser and Copy tweet address items (plus ones for quoted tweet if there is one), and a Screenshot tweet to clipboard option which takes a screenshot of the full tweet
  • Right-click on a link to display the Open link in browser and Copy link address items
  • Right-click on an account link to display the Open account in browser, Copy account address, and Copy account username items
  • Right-click on an image to display the Open image in browser, Save image as..., and Copy image address items

TweetDeck Improvements

  • Hovering over shortened links expands them, or displays a tooltip (configurable)
  • Copying links bypasses the t.co shortener
  • Images can be pasted directly from clipboard when writing a tweet
  • Special mouse buttons can be used for easier navigation
    • The forward button opens the hovered tweet
    • The back button closes modal dialogs, and allows quick returning back to timeline if a tweet is opened (either the hovered column, or all at once if none is hovered)
  • Swapped the Shift key functionality when selecting accounts, so that clicking on an account selects only that account, and holding Shift allows toggling individual accounts (can be toggled in the settings)
  • Holding Shift with column settings open turns the Clear button into a Restore button
  • Disabled TweetDeck's realtime metrics system
  • Fixed a bug where Scheduled tweets often wouldn't immediately display in the column
  • Fixed a bug where tooltips for column header icons would not show if the mouse was not directly over the icon
  • Fixed cut off account names and Verified badges
  • Fixed alignment of the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog
  • Fixed DM reply box not being focused after opening a conversation
  • Fixed DM notifications not getting triggered when the conversation is open
  • Fixed some youtu.be links not showing previews
  • Fixed various other (hopefully temporary) TweetDeck bugs such as broken tooltips, misaligned usernames, and other design/layout issues

Miscellaneous

  • TweetDuck is based on the Chromium Embedded Framework, and lets you use many features from Chrome but also tweaks others
    • Copying text from the website will automatically strip custom formatting (with the exception of links)
    • Hold Alt if you want to select text from links or other interactive elements
    • Hold Ctrl or use the middle mouse button when clicking on special links (such as account names) to open them in your browser instead
  • You can change the Zoom level in the Settings, which affects the main window, notifications, and screenshots
  • TweetDuck only supports videos that use free and open formats (such as YouTube videos), unsupported video formats show a red play button and open in the browser when clicked on
