Blocking Loads/DMA disable

Hi,

Looking for some more information regarding blocking loads/non-blocking loads,
what is the purpose of blocking loads, why stall DMA accesses on external access with side-effects?
What are the considerations for not disabling them (bldmad in mfdc csr)?
