Ticks hide

Can I only display certain ticks along the x axis?
Or do not show ticks if the value is an empty string?

Since the tickLength is non scriptable this is not possible by default so you will need to use a custom plugin to either put a colored box over the ticks that you want to hide or write a plugin that draws them for the lines you want to show.
