I wonder who decides on the unique values. Why include noon but not midnight? I could see using it to decide on a greeting, like good morning, afternoon, or evening. Not a fan of the en-US after midnight labeled as at night instead of morning. French version makes more sense here.

So I know "the community" works on specifications and such, with the community typically being representatives from companies who build browsers, contribute to the web, etc. And in theory, this was discussed in public mailing lists, so I assume it made some kind of sense to folks. :) I don't necessarily think any of it is wrong at all - just maybe a bit odd at times. :)
