Hello @abiardeau, Yes - all standard names used by the CMIP project must be official names from the official CF standard name table. CMIP is a major user of the CF conventions, and it is a CMIP requirement that all of its datasets are CF-compliant. Large efforts are made to get all of the names needed for CMIP into the official standard name table - CMIP5 and CMIP6 combined led to the creation of about two thousand new standard names; and more have been, and are being, created for CMIP7.
