Direct Connect disconnects from Power/Cadence in Zwift if idle? #3244

From the logs it looks like it stayed connected for 151'ish minutes before disconnecting, and I discovered it around 13 minutes later: Tue Feb 25 10:01:18 2025 1740506478131 Debug: devices/dircon/dirconprocessor.cpp void DirconProcessor::tcpNewConnection() New connection from "::ffff:192.168.1.156" : 58002 uuid = "Wahoo KICKR 0000" |

Always use wahoo kickr so raspberry and pc will comunicate over wifi. If there is a drop on this communication you have to check the wifi signal or simply put a cable on your raspberry if you didn't already |

Ok I suggest to use lan network on both raspberry and pc to avoid this

… Thanks.
During a ride this evening the Power/Cadence disconnected twice and the
second time it happened I also lost the other riders in Zwift (likely the
PC dropping the WiFi connection). I suspect it is interference between the
Bluetooth on the RPi and the 2.4 GHz WiFi on the PC -- the RPi was sitting
on top of the PC case a couple inches away from the PC's WiFi adapter.
I've moved the RPi a couple feet away from the PC and will leave QZ
connected to Zwift overnight and see if it is still connected in the
morning. If there is still a problem I'll put a cord on the PC's Bluetooth
adapter and test again.

Sounds good.

… I had an 8-port gigabit switch at the PC, but removed the wiring a couple
weeks ago and would prefer to not put it back. And eventually I would like
to use the least powerful RPi necessary for the virtual shifting and hoping
that a headless Zero 2 W works (but for now it is too slow to comfortably
use the Desktop).
If moving the PC's 2.4GHz WiFi adapter away from the BT doesn't work I'll
order a 5GHz adapter, and if that still doesn't solve the problem I'll get
a 5GHz WiFi bridge and run both PC and Pi on wired ethernet.

I'm trying to diagnose an issue of connections being lost mid-ride on Zwift, and want to check what expected behavior is before creating an Issue. I had all sorts of connectivity issues on an RPi 3B+ over the weekend on 2hr rides and then zero problems on a 1h45m ride using an RPi 5. I positioned the Pi 5 closer to the PC thinking the 3B+ was getting interference from where it was located.
But the immediate issue...
If I start Zwift, selecting QZ as my resistance and the Direct Connect device for Power and Cadence, should it ever drop the connection from Zwift if sitting idle?
As of this morning I am running the latest build on an RPi 4 and found Power and Cadence with "No Signal" when I checked on it three hours later. QZ still showed active for the resistance. I have logging turned on. I tried turning the cranks a couple times to see if it would reactivate but it didn't seem to. I then unselected both Power and Cadence connections and reselected, and after a couple turns of the cranks on the bike the top left power/cadence/watts fields reactivated.
