Use .tool-versions per environment

Is there any way to take in account the tool-versions file in the root of the repo, to use different node version between staging and production ? Currently, I need to move this file to the root of my server. It's ignored when in the root of the repo

I bumped into this today and saw in the docs that capistrano can't install on the servers, but it seems like it can?

I wrote this task to try it out and it seemed to work, its naive, but perhaps something like this could work?

    on roles(fetch(:asdf_roles, :all)) do
      tools = File.readlines(".tool-versions", chomp: true)
