SQL log files growth and remaining space percentage

Hi , can you please help choosing the metric which can explain the free space percentage in sql database ( running on VM ) log files

With regards to Grafana Alloy, I'd recommend looking at this discussion: #583

The general idea is that you need to use the metric definition described here (check the snippet). The columns you want to extract values from as metrics should be put in the Values list.

Thanks @burningalchemist for your support so far.. I have created the YML file as highlighted in the discussion #583 , however I am attaching the same alloy config file , if you could please highlight where exact we need to mention the expose the custom generated logs in that . I have restarted the alloy service but the custom generated logs are not able to see . Cant see the Rule part in the alloy config file..

I think you may need to use query_config attribute in the Alloy config together with local.file object. That way you can pass the yaml configuration to the prometheus.exporter.mssql integration. Also make sure your custom metric is listed in the relabel rules so it's not filtered out.

sql_exporter is an independent project not related to Grafana products, so I'd suggest to consult with their support/documentation regarding the Alloy configuration for a better recommendation.

Tried modifying the config.alloy file as per the recommendations , however i am still not able to see the custom metric in Azure Monitor workspace .. Anything wrong you suspect in this config file ? Attached is the latest one.

The config looks fine to me. Could you also share your mssqlqueries file with the metrics defined?
Also, alloy debug logs would be great too. 👍
