Turn on end-to-end encryption by default?

I love Brave Talk as an alternative to more privacy-invasive video calling platforms, but why is end-to-end encryption not enabled by default? Jitsi/Brave Talk also says that the "video bridge encryption" is experimental since about 3 years ago. Is making it production-ready not an important focus for Brave?

Thanks for that. I read it and, while informative, I'm still wondering if and when Brave Talk with have E2EE or VBE on by default. Could you let us know if that's on your roadmap?

Hopefully, we will have a 2025 roadmap by year's end, so i'm re-opening the issue for visibility...

Note: Sheesh, E2EE by DEFAULT? I see plenty of statements that E2EE is available, but no evidence of actual steps to enable it. I can't find a way to do it AT ALL, let alone passively accepting it by default. After an hour or more of trying, I found NO online steps on how to do set E2EE. I couldn't even find evidence in the Brave application that there IS an end to end encryption setting. Please tell me what I'm missing!

Resolved! I think I figured it out! You have to go all the way into the session, then do some settings. I did this in Brave 1.81.131, (Official Build) (64-bit), Chromium: 139.0.7258.66 at 2025 0809 about 6 pm Pacific Time:

1. Click "Brave Talk" video camera icon
2. Enter a name in the "Enter Name" box
3. Click "Join Meeting" buttion
4. Click the "More Actions" 3-dot icon left of the red phone handset hangup icon
5. Click "Security Options"
6. slide the "Enable lobby" button
7. click "Add password" and enter a p/w
8. slide the "Enable Video Bridge Encryption" button

I think that's it!
