This is fun. I wonder what a reasonable variance threshold criteria would best identify a frontal passage (or outflow boundary)? It could be fun to have this rolling in real-time and watching the last hour's variance and then saving the dt of "events". Fun work Brian. |

Haven't dived too much into this, but I think I identified the passage of a front using my timeseries web app.
I plotted the rolling mean for the following variables and the rolling variance. The variance spikes at the time of the cold frontal passage.
Air temperature
Wind Speed
