Why are Variables and Equations not allowed on every textbox?

Hey Y'all! I have been using companion for a few years now at my church and I find it very helpful for all sorts of things. I use a lot of variables and equations to make all sorts of things work.
This is mostly useful when connections allow for the use of Variables and Equations in text boxes. However, there are a handful of modules (like the x32 and WING) that do not allow for those to function as inputs. I have recently discovered "$(internal:b_text_###)" as a variable that is not listed in the variables tab and have thought through a ton of uses for this using triggers and otherwise.

I am not sure if I am missing something to add variables/equations into boxes that don't specifically say they accept them. Would love some help! Thanks in advance.

#2345 is the feature request for allowing action options to support Expressions. As for Variable support, that's entirely up to individual module developers to choose to support if they wish or not.
