Keyboard works - touchbar does not

Not sure if this project is dead or not, if it isn't I could use some help, everything looks as it should be with one exception the touch doesn't work on touch bar... The on-screen keyboard works fine but the bar is not responsive to touch, the content changes with the applications so it's not frozen.

The iPad is Air3 and it's connected to 2017 Imac on Catalina.

Just had the same issue. Quit “TouchBarServer” (without icon) using Activity Monitor.

See I got the same thing but what I did was only way to fix it for now is right when you log in on the Mac connect you iPad have the app open and open TouchBar demo quickly it works for me

But if you disconnect you iPad when you using the Mac you have to restart the Mac and do it over again to get the Touch Bar to work

I've found found running the following in Terminal.app (which can be found on any mac): pkill "Touch Bar agent"; killall ControlStrip TouchBarServer, and then reopening TouchBarServer fixes that issue.
