YouTube previews have black borders

Describe the bug
YouTube preview images include black borders.

To Reproduce
The YouTube URL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QL9UMMzyFFI returns a URL with black borders:
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/QL9UMMzyFFI/hqdefault.jpg

Expected behavior
A better image, like:
<meta property="og:image" content="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/QL9UMMzyFFI/maxresdefault.jpg">

Is there a separate git repository for the better embed api?
