selection rectangle

Hi,
is there a way to programmatically activate "selection rectangle" and to start selecting nodes by moving mouse ?
I would like to provide a toggle button to start selection, instead of having to press keyboard to activate the selection rectangle.

You can set the selection-key-code to true which will keep it active as long as it's true allowing you to create selections without an additional key with just clicking and dragging.
