Question: Updating state of group link in Signal group

Hi,

I have a question regarding managing the group link state in a Signal group.

I created a group with the group link enabled, but I’d like to disable it later on. Is it possible to update the group link state after the group has been created?

Additionally, is there a way to set the group link to require admin approval, either during creation or afterwards—perhaps via a specific field in the group creation or update call?

That's unfortunately not possible yet. But afaik, the underlying signal-cli offers the functionality, so it should be possible to expose that via REST too.

Have you tried setting the group_link to enabled-with-approval when creating a group with this endpoint: https://bbernhard.github.io/signal-cli-rest-api/#/Groups/post_v1_groups__number_

I haven’t tested the enabled-with-approval option yet, but I realize that this functionality doesn't quite fit my use case. It would only be useful for me if I could enable admin approval after the group has already been created.

For my scenario, it’s important to have the flexibility to update the group link behavior later on—ideally using the update group endpoint (PUT /v1/groups/{number}/{groupid}: https://bbernhard.github.io/signal-cli-rest-api/#/Groups/put_v1_groups__number___groupid_).

Is it currently possible to change the group link state (e.g. enable admin approval) through this endpoint after the group is created?
